We know starting with a new specialist can feel overwhelming. We've made the process as simple and stress-free as possible — here's exactly what to expect.

01

Schedule Your Appointment

Call our office at (210) 499-0033 or use our online contact form to request your first appointment. Our friendly staff will find a time that works for you and confirm your insurance coverage.

  • Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm
  • Most major insurance plans accepted
  • Both adult and pediatric appointments available
02

Complete Your Pre-Registration

Before your visit, we'll send you a pre-registration packet to complete at home. This saves time in the office and helps our physicians prepare a thorough, personalized evaluation.

  • Patient health history form
  • Insurance and demographic information
  • Current medications and prior allergy test results
03

Your First Visit

Your initial appointment typically lasts 60–90 minutes. Your physician will review your history, discuss your symptoms in detail, and may perform allergy skin testing or other diagnostic evaluations during the same visit.

  • Arrive 15 minutes early to complete any remaining paperwork
  • Bring your insurance card and a photo ID
  • Avoid antihistamines for 5–7 days before testing (if applicable)
04

Your Personalized Treatment Plan

After your evaluation, your physician will walk you through a clear, customized treatment plan. Whether that means medication management, immunotherapy, or lifestyle guidance — you'll leave with a plan that fits your life and a team that's with you every step of the way.

  • Written summary of findings and recommendations
  • Follow-up schedule tailored to your needs
  • Direct access to our clinical team for questions

Insurance & Billing

We accept most major insurance plans, including BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Humana, Medicare. When you call, our staff will verify your benefits before your visit and discuss any out-of-pocket costs upfront. We believe in transparent, honest billing — no surprises.

Please call our office to confirm your specific plan is accepted before your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral?

Many insurance plans do not require a referral to see an allergist. However, some HMO plans do. We recommend calling your insurance company to confirm, or our staff can help you check when you call to schedule.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your insurance card, a photo ID, a list of your current medications, any prior allergy test results or medical records, and your completed pre-registration forms if you received them in advance.

How long will my first appointment take?

Plan for 60–90 minutes for your initial visit. This allows time for a thorough history, physical examination, and any diagnostic testing your physician recommends.

Can my child be seen here?

Absolutely. Both Dr. Michael and Dr. Adrianne Vaughn treat pediatric patients. Dr. Adrianne Vaughn has fellowship training in pediatrics and a special focus on childhood allergic conditions.
